I believe every one of us is a child of God. Each of us is someone God loves very, very much. And, I believe we are called to love every one of God’s children.
Every one of us deserves love, respect, kindness, grace, and dignity.
Within our world, there are still misunderstandings, ignorance, and judgment between God’s children. In a world where Jesus calls upon us to love one another, we still struggle with hatred and unkindness.
As a child, I grew up with a close relative that identified as a lesbian. (I do not share this relative’s name, because it is not my right to do so.)
I know what it feels like to have someone you love, face discrimination and punishment just for being their honest self. I have witnessed ridicule of someone who only wanted to love and be loved.
We all want to love and be loved.
Sadly, while there has been growth in understanding and acceptance, there remain gaps where prejudices remain.
We are all deserving of love. We all deserve to be loved.
At Neighbors, there are many blessed parts to our community. LGBTQ+ is certainly one of these blessings.
We have many of God’s children. Children with a wide variety of things that make them special. Children we love and celebrate.
We worship together, we pray together, we share meals together, we laugh together and together, we strive for a world of love and kindness.
We strive to love one another as Christ loves us. Each and every one of us.
At Neighbors, we love God, ourselves and our neighbors.
We grow in this love, by listening, sharing and learning more about God, ourselves and our neighbors.
